You do not need to remember the exact name of a phrase. Start with the words that describe what you need.

Find a useful result on Desktop

1. Type at least two characters of a distinctive word related to what you want.
2. If the results are too broad, add another useful term.
3. Keep search terms together without spaces while you are searching. Pressing the space bar resets the current typing search.
4. Select the result that best matches what you need and review it before use.

If your spelling is not exact

Desktop matching is fuzzy, so partial terms and some misspellings can still return a useful result. It is not a guarantee for every typo. If you get no useful result, try a shorter term, a common synonym, or corrected spelling.

Why one result may appear before another

dotScribe ranks matches rather than simply listing them alphabetically. Phrases you have marked as Favorites can be promoted ahead of other matches.

Current Suggestions settings

The current Desktop typing search begins after two characters. There is not currently a user setting to change that character threshold, set a custom maximum number of Suggestions, or choose a custom position for the Suggestions window.

Optional faster searching

Once you become familiar with dotScribe, you can use shortcuts such as dot-separated terms or prefixes to narrow a search faster. You do not need to learn those shortcuts to get started.

If you still cannot find what you need

Search the Online Library for a broader view of available content. If the content does not exist, create a personal phrase or copy a useful official phrase to My Library and adapt your personal copy.
