The Online Library includes an Open dotScribe control that asks your browser to hand off to the installed desktop app.
- In the Online Library, choose Open dotScribe.
- Your browser may ask for permission to open the dotScribe application. Allow it if you recognize the dotScribe request and your organization permits it.
- If the desktop app opens, continue working from the floating dot or Desktop toolbar.
If the page says “Launching dotScribe” but nothing opens
The current browser handoff does not independently confirm that the desktop app actually opened. Open dotScribe directly from your computer instead.
- If Desktop is not installed, use the official dotScribe Download page.
- If you use the Windows portable/USB version, open dotScribe directly from the complete extracted portable folder.
- If workplace policy blocks the desktop app, use the Online Library for browser-based find, preview, and copy workflows when available rather than bypassing IT controls.
If the desktop app itself will not start, use the relevant Windows, macOS, or portable troubleshooting guidance in the Help Center.
